My work addresses issues of social and political content. Comments on migration, war, identity, translate into site-specific installations and multimedia pieces including video, performance art, photography and drawing.
Carolina Mayorga lives and works in Washington, DC. In most of her art, visitors engage actively or passively in site-specifc installations and performances. Her art is intersubjective, as such visitors are encouraged to become part of the work.
Mayorga has had solo and group exhibitions in Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Sweden, and numerous cities throughout the United States. Her work is in several collections including the Art Museum of the Americas (DC, USA), the National Museum of Women in the Arts (DC, USA), the Andres Institute of Art (New Hampshire, USA), la Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia), and the Kronan Sculpture Park (Lulea, Sweden), among others.
